Vulnerability & Connection
No one is obliged to share their vulnerability with you. They’re sharing because they trust you. They’re sharing because they feel safe and supported by your presence. They’re sharing because they (often) have pain and fear attached to their vulnerabilities. They’re sharing because it lessens the weight of their vulnerabilities.
Sharing those vulnerabilities with someone is a big step. Often, it’ll take some time before someone is ready to admit to themselves they have this pain, fear or belief that is holding them back. They may not be asking you for a solution once they share their vulnerabilities with you, but they need your unconditional support. They need you. They need you to witness what they’re feeling and feel loved anyway. They need you to listen no matter how scared they’re feeling for revealing their vulnerabilities.
Being vulnerable doesn’t make you weak. It makes you stronger. You’re saying, “This is what I’m afraid of…but by sharing it with you, I’m releasing the power this has over me.” Being vulnerable doesn’t make you weak. It makes you stronger.
I shared one of my vulnerabilities this week and I felt released from the fear that I’d been holding onto. Sharing your vulnerabilities is liberating. If there’s something on your heart that you’ve been holding onto, I urge you to share it with someone you trust this week.
