Thoughts on Redefining Success
Tonight’s blog is a peek behind the scenes of Soul Whispers and an insight into the world of personal development that has created so much incredible growth and self-awareness for me (Mel) - and a chance for you to get to know me more deeply.
When the things I used to define myself by were no longer giving me the fulfilment, growth and success I was working towards, I started looking inward and questioning if the life I was living was allowing me to fulfil my full potential. Questions such as “What does success look like to me?” “How can I push my comfort zone more?” “Where am I playing small?” and “What else is out there?” all came into focus.
After considering what success truly looks like to me, I redefined how I was looking for that success. I redefined what I thought “work” needed to look like. I started looking for expanders and being open to seeking creative fulfilment outside of my 9-5 role. I did a lot of journaling, listening to podcasts, being open to having fun and being curious about the possibilities.
I started digging deeper into the things I’m excited by (personal development, affirmations, self-help books and podcasts) and the things that I’m naturally gifted at (design, typography and creative writing). I didn’t place any pressure on myself to find a solution - I shifted my energy towards expansion, fun, openness and curiosity. Soul Whispers found me - I wasn’t looking for it, it was secretly there all along which is why this business is in complete alignment with who I am. It’s me showing my vulnerability and being proud of defining success on my own terms. It’s my soul’s expression at its most beautiful and authentic - and any version of success after that is truly a gift. ❤️❤️
I’d love to know how you define success in the comments - or how you’re inspired to redefine it.
